If you’re a small business, the thorniest aspect of importing may very well be the documentation. Many small businesses complain that they get hamstrung over this.

There are three kinds of documents you’ll need to keep track of: cash related, project related, and shipping related. Mapping out each track before a program begins is the best way to make sure you don’t get flummoxed. Build a job jacket for each program, containing all the documents.

If you went ahead and mapped out your cash-to-cash commitments above, then you’ll have a list of cash-related documents. That’s your first track. Next, move on to project- and shipping-related documents.
